OMG… it’s a cat

WE HAVE A CAT NOW!

D and I brought home our brand new cat, Angus, last night!  Here’s a picture so you can all coo over how adorable he is:

OK, now that you’re back, let me tell you all about it.  D and I are both self-professed dog people, but we didn’t feel like we were ready for the kind of time commitment getting a dog would require. D’s mom had taken in a cute little stray around thanksgiving last year, but this little guy was just too rambunctious for her other 2 cats who were a lot older and more sedate.  So, she said that if we moved to a place where we could have pets and wanted a cat, we could have this one. We were game.

We were out in Illinois to visit D’s mom’s family this past weekend and we brought our new cat, Angus, home with us!  He was SO good and relaxed for the whole car/plane/car trip (with the help of a little bit of kitty sedative), and he has taken to his new home remarkably well.  He’s found his new litter box, found a place where he likes to sleep, and has spent a large portion of today sitting on my lap and purring.  He’s very social, affectionate, and chill.  He never hisses, he doesn’t scratch thanks to the soft paws he wears (they’re amazing), and isn’t skittish at all (especially considering we just plunked him down in a new place less than 24 hours ago).

As I type, he is keeping me company sitting on the window sill by my desk watching the cars go by.  Maybe I’ll be a cat-person convert after all…

He is just precious. I hope he converts you to be a cat person too.

Thanks so much! I think I am definitely leaning towards the cat person side now…
